Amazon trip - encounter with the Queen of Amazon

Talking about Amazon, people may only think about Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. However, 20hours north from La Paz, descending from 4000m to 0m, you can find Rurrenabaque, where is the gateway town of Amazon. You can find many jungle and pampa trips with bargain prices there. And the qualities of those trips are really worth much more than what you pay.

I joined a trip for 2 days and 1 night in Madidi National Park, where is about 3hours by boat from Rurrenabaque.

With the wind blowing over the river, the boat trip was very comfortable.

Once we arrived, we were welcomed by tens of butterflies.

Our guide is the local resident of a jungle village, so he has specific affection towards the nature. Because of he, we had a very enjoyable trip. The tree behinds him has special medical value and it is already over 80years old.

The jungle monster? Actually, the mask was a gift from our guide. He made it with all the natural materials in the jungle.

The jungle trip was mainly about knowing the medical plants and insects in the forest. And to my surprise, really all the plants in the jungle can be used for curing different illness, like stomache, headache, insect bites and some tree truck can even produce source of water.

Of course, there are also plants that serve like soft drugs and some are poisonous.

Our guide could even use this to make accessory for me.

This tree made all my hair standing.......and it can move a few iche each year...

It can move with these "legs".

This is the gigantic root of a 100years old tree. Please note the smile of our guide, he enjoyed every moment in the jungle.

This butterfly disguised very well in the jungle.

A beautiful river where we swam, but there were loads of mosquitoes waiting for us on the coast.

A super huge ant.

Home of termites.

We even played Tazan game!

Once eaten this poisionous colourful mashroom, you will find the world "more beautiful".

This small fruit can act as a soap.

Except medical purposes, the plants in the jungle can also serve as comestic for women.

You will see the effect of this magical plant in our Queen of Amazon later.

And her clothes.

Our Queen was appearing...

Our handsome Queen of Amazon - Katyanna.

We had a wonderful day time walk with our guide. At night, we also set off for a walk to find insects which usually only come out at dark.

Before the trip, I thought Amazon jungle should be very hot, many animals and I would get many mosquitoes. Actually, I found that with the shadow of the canopy, I had a very cool sleep at night (even a little bit cold) and I didn't get any bites in the jungle (though I put enough insect repellent). Moreover, it is usually very difficult to encounter the animals which live in the jungle as they are afraid of the presence of human beings. I only met one guy who was super lucky to see a puma from the riverside.

First live football match in La Paz

I am totally not a fan of football, but in order to feel and understand why the people in S.A are crazy about football, I chose to watch one world club elimation match in La Paz.

The atmosphere was very exciting inside the court.

Fans of Peru mixed in the side with those of Bolivia.

La Paz is situated at near 4000m, one of the highest cities in the world, its sunshine was incredibly strong. As we didn't want to spend extra money on sitting in the balcony side, we had to face the strong sunshine for almost 2 hours. So if you ask me how was the match, I can only say the most unforgettable thing about this match was not the moment when Bolivia shot the goal of Peru, but how the hotness of the sun made me buy lots of ice-cream and soft drink during the match.

The court was quite full with fans from both sides.

Super useful under the crazy sunshine.

TV journalist of Peru/Bolivia.

The humour of Bolivian and Peruvian people. The finally goal was Bolivia won over Peru by 3:0. After the game. Friendship became no.1.

Sorata, a quiet town forgetten by the world

Nestled inside the mountain range between La Paz (the capital of Bolivia) and Copacabana, Sorata(2578m) is a good place to escape from the other tourists.

Sorata is a quiet village.

Although the people are poor here, I felt relatively safe in this village.

Sorata provides many challenging trails for trekking and it has similar landscape to the Colca Canyon in Peru.

A super dry landscape.

We hiked to a cave, which is formed by gypsum, with a small lake. And there is an unknown trail, which the staff said could lead to Peru (totally doubt about that).

The weather was super dry. After the hike, my friends tried the local 'Inca' dark beer.

Lake Titicaca, the higest navigable lake

Lake Titicaca, which means Big Cat in the indigenous language, reachs over 3000m. With its speical background related to the Inca Empire, it is not just a pure beautiful blue lake and islands.

Once crossed the border from Peru, my first stop was the touristic city Copacabana (the famous Copacabana beach is named after this city in Bolivia). Excluding the beautiful backdrop of this village, I don't like here, the prices of almost everything were unreasonably double and the faces of local people told me they only wanted to get all the money from my pocket.

However, I still met some nice local people and was deeply touched by the queitness and beauty of this magic lake.

The holy moment. The main church in Copacabana.

This incredibly beautiful sunset over Lake Titicaca was regularly shown at the lakeshore of Copacabana.

I can forget everything here.

From Copacabana, I took the boat to Isla del Sol, the biggest island on the lake and there were many ruins about the old Inca Empire, including the place where the sacrify ceremony of virgin carrying out.

Can you tell which is the sky and which is the lake?

The lake changes its colours under different weathers.

The Inca temple on Isla del Sol, very similar to Machu Picchu.

A very important rock on the Island. Can you see the image of a cat? That is the origin of the name of this lake.

There are thousands of beautiful lakes over the world. What makes the landscapes different? The beauty of cultures and its people. And these are the main reason why I fancy about Bolivia.

Her skin shows the trail of a hard life.

All the indigenous women in Bolivia use this kind of colourful scarf to carry their baby.

The lovely animal living in the Andes area, Vicuna.

You can take a private boat trip back to Copacabana.
